Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatna MP Raju Shetti will call on Maharashtra Governor C Vidyasagar Rao tomorrow and seek his intervention in stopping the construction of Mumbai-Nagpur expressway.
Shetti, whose party is an ally of the NDA and part of Maharashtra government, will conclude his Atmaklesh Yatra (march for repentance), which began from Pune on May 22, at Raj Bhavan tomorrow.
"The Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatna does not expect a reply from the government. We shall not allow Samruddhi corridor. If need be we will spill our blood. The highway is for the interest of big (senior) officers," said Shetti.
Meanwhile, the spilt in the SSS ranks was distinctly visible after Shetti's one time close associate and Minister of State for Agriculture Sadabhau Khot held a dialogue with farmers at Islampur in Sangli district.
He also felicitated Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis during a public function there.
Reacting to the development and Khot's absence in the march, Shetti said, "It does not make any difference whether Sadabhau Khot is present here or not. The organisation does not wait for anyone. The Governor has given us appointment."
Khot told reporters in Sangli that Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatna president MP Raju Shetti is leading his Atmaklesh Yatra (march for repentance) to Raj Bhavan and he is going to the farmers fields. "I pray to the Almighty that Shetti gets rest and his health improves," he said.
"Shetti's demands are right and I am trying to solve them while being part of the government," said Khot, adding the government is sensitive towards the problems faced by the farmers.
He further remarked "some people are needlessly criticising the government, levelling allegations against the chief minister".
"This government is working for the honour of the farmers. I too am a son of a farmer and for the last three decades have been part of the agitation," he said.
