Gurdaspur DC Abhinav Trikha today said inspectors of various procurement agencies had agreed to resume procurement operations following assurance that their demands had been sent to the state government for consideration.
The Agencies had stopped procurement on Sunday following arrival in the grain market here rain-soaked wheat with more than the upper permissible limit of 12 per cent moisture content.
While farmers had been complaining that rain had damaged their wheat stocks lying in the markets and in fields, the procurement agencies have been complaining that moisture content in the wheat was 15-16 per cent.
After procurement the stock was likely to lose weight which would cause loss to the agencies, they said.
The procurement agencies demanded that the government relax the moisture content level. PTI COR CHS ESB
