Staff strike affects work at Collectorate

Administrative work at the District Collectorate here was badly hit as the strike bya section of officers and staff in the Revenue department across the district entered its second day today.

The revenue staff were on strike pressing for a charter of demands including hike in salary, various allowances, filling up the nearly 6,000 vacancies from the post of office assistant to Tahsildar across Tamil Nadu.

According to General secretary of the Tamil Nadu Revenue officials association, D. Sivajothi, there were hundreds of temporary staff working in the election section and special scheme implementation section and their jobs should be regularised.
 

He claimed that over 10,000 staff across the state took part in the strike by taking mass casual leave for the second day today.

The protest affected issuance of community, income and other certificates, and electoral roll related works at the office.
