Marvel Comics legend Stan Lee's former business manager has pleaded not guilty to making fake 911 calls in order to disturb a welfare check on his employer.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Keya Morgan's attorney Alex Kessel filed a not guilty plea Monday in Los Angeles.
"Mr Morgan always had Mr Lee's best interest at heart and did everything he could to help Mr Lee and not put him in danger and not jeopardize any type of financial situation for Mr Lee," Kessel stated outside the court.
Morgan is charged with calling the police on May 30, saying that "three unidentified people" had locked Lee's security out, and he was "very, very scared" that they were harming him.
The incident came after Lee's former attorney Tom Lallas filed for a restraining order against Morgan, on accounts of "elder abuse" against Lee. In the petition, Lallas stated that Morgan had isolated Lee from his family and friends, and taken control of his assets.
The intruders on May 30 were in fact two police officers and and a social worker inquiring about the elder abuse claims. Morgan currently faces misdemeanour charges.
On June 17, Morgan tweeted, "For over 10 years I have shown nothing but love, respect and kindness to Stan Lee, his wife, a fact he has repeated countless time. I have never ever abused my dear friend. Everything you read in the #FakeNews is pure malicious lies and I will 100 per cent prove it. The truth will come out.
