"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" continues to add feats to its list of box office records and now has the biggest Christmas Eve domestic gross with USD 27.5 million, defeating previous record holder "Avatar" which took in USD 11.2 million in 2009.
The seventh installment of the "Star Wars" saga also broke the opening week domestic box office record, earning USD 391.1 million after seven days in theatres, reported Ace Showbiz.
The film beat out previous record holder "Jurassic World", which took in USD 296.2 million during its first week at North America box office in May.

"The Force Awakens", which stars Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver and Harrison Ford, could earn USD 35 million-USD 47 million on Christmas Day, which would easily surpass the USD 24.6 million opening of "Sherlock Holmes" on December 25, 2009 to nab the biggest Christmas Day revenue of all time.
So far, the J.J. Abrams-directed movie has earned USD 422.4 million overseas and USD 391 million at domestic box office, pushing its worldwide total to USD 813.4 million.
