State award nominee escapes attempt on life

An attempt was made on the life of a Yash Bharati award nominee, police said here today.

Two unidentified persons opened fire on Abhishek Yadav, a police trainer, while he was was going with his friend Chandrabhooshan Tripathi last night, ASP (Rural) Brijesh Singh said.

He said Yadav escaped unhurt and a case had been lodged at Chauri Chaura police station in this regard.

Yash Bharti is a prestigious award given by the Uttar Pradesh government, which was started by SP government in 1994 and was discontinued by Mayawati in 2007.

It is given to people who have contributed in the fields of art and literature.
