State Planning Board approves draft plan document for

The State level planning Board headed by Lt Governor Lt General (retired) A K Singh today reviewed the achievements in physical and financial targets of Union Territory during 2014-2015 and finalised unanimously the Rs 6800 crore draft annual plan for the fiscal 2015-2016.

The Lt Governor who addressed the members of the Board commended the achievements of the Union Territory in various sectors and urged the officials to persuade the Central authorities for financial support, a release said.

Official sources said that the meeting was attended by Chief Minister N Rangasamy, his cabinet colleagues, Member of Parliament R.Radhakrishnan, Leader of the Opposition V Vaithilingam, the opposition Congress legislator from Yanam Malladi Krishna Rao (a special invitee), officials and heads of departments and Regional Executive officers from outlying regions of Karaikal, Mahe and Yanam.
 

Development Commissioner of Puducherry V .Candavelou who is the member Secretary of the Planning Board earlier explained the achievements through power point presentation. Sources said that while Rs 2800 crores was projected as requirement of Puducherry for the fiscal 2015-2016 (including Rs 350 crores for Centrally Sponsored Schemes) the remaining Rs 4000 crores were projected under non plan head.

The draft plan projected a requirement of 4000 public toilets in the whole of the Union Territory under Clean India scheme and the administration also intends to prepare master plans separately for Puducherry and Karaikal regions.

The draft plan would be placed before a meeting of the Puducherry cabinet before sending it to Union Home Ministry for its perusal and approval through the NITI Aayog, sources said.
