The Punjab government has decided to begin inspection of all state-run hospitals from next week, a senior health officer said here today.
Principal Secretary Health and Family Welfare Vini Mahajan issued directions regarding this and asked all surgeons, senior medical officers and hospital staff to get prepared in seven days time.
Senior officials of the Health Department as well as the Health Minster Surjit Jyani himself would start visiting the hospitals in the state from next week, she said.

Mahajan said that funds have been made available to SMOs for making arrangements regarding special cleanliness drive in the government hospitals of the state.
Hospitals have been given seven days time to ensure proper cleanliness of premises, wards and other areas as well ensuring proper greenery outside hospitals, she said.
Mahajan directed the civil surgeons and SMOs to ensure the timely attendance of doctors and supporting staff in government hospitals.
Laxity would not be tolerated and strict action against would be taken if anybody found guilty, she said.
