State transport to start 80 buses for Kawad Yatra

Eighty special state-run buses will soon ply to Haridwar for pilgrims during the annual Kawad Yatra, which begins tomorrow.

"Eighty buses from Muzaffarnagar to Haridwar and Delhi to Haridwar will soon start for the kawad pilgrims," regional assistant manager of UP roadways Brahm Prakash said today.

Kawad Yatra is annual pilgrimage of devotees of Shiva to Hindu pilgrimage places of Haridwar, Gaumukh and Gangotri in Uttarakhand and Sultanganj in Bihar to fetch holy water of Ganga, which is later offered at their local Shiva temples (specific temples include Kashi Vishwanath, Baidyanath, and Devghar).
