Steel melt shop-II commissioned at RINL's Vizag plant

A state-of-the-art 'steel melt shop-II continuous caster complex was today commissioned at Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited's (RINL's) plant here.

"RINL will be producing for the first time 350 mm dia. rounds of highest quality, ranging from 220-350 mm dia.Rounds, in addition to billets of various sizes from the new Caster," RINL Chairman and Managing director A.P Choudhary said after the commissioning function.

The new Caster is one of the best and technologically- oriented in world, he said, adding that several new technologies were adopted in SMS-2.

"The most automated SMS-2 continuous casting machines were built with two Billet Casters and a Billet cum Round Caster, along with associated facilities at a cost of around Rs 800 crore," Choudhary said.
