Steep increase in the price of Thoor dal

Prices of thoor dal rose steeply and that of gram dal went up on the opening day while rest of the commodities ruled steady in the wholesale foodgrain market.

Thoor dal opened the week at Rs.16,800, a steep increase of Rs.1000 per quintal from its closing rate of Rs.15,800.

Gram dal was up by Rs.100 per quintal to Rs.6,500 from its previous rate of Rs.6,400.

Urad dal (Rs.15,200),moong dal (Rs.11,500),sugar (Rs.3000), wheat (Rs.3000), maida (90 kg) (Rs.2500) and sooji (90 kg)(3200) prices remained unchanged.

Following are the wholesale rates of various agri-commodities (rates in rupees per quintal, unless stated otherwise): Thoor Dal Rs 16,800, Urad Dal Rs 15,200, Moong Dal Rs 11,500, Gram Dal Rs 6,500, Sugar Rs 3,000, Wheat Rs 3,000, Maida (90 kg) Rs 2,500 and Sooji (90 kg) Rs 3,200.
