'The Host', an adaptation of 'Twilight' author Stephenie Meyer's 2008 book of the same name, is all set to hit Indian screens on April 12.

Meyer's vampire romance series 'Twilight' launched Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewarts as global stars.

'The Host', starring Oscar-nominee Saoirse Ronan of 'Atonement' and 'The Lovely Bones' and 'Inglourious Basterds' star Diane Kruger, is set in future when earth has been colonized by alien race called 'Souls'.

The Souls transform the planet into a clean, safe, peaceful world but most of the human race has been eradicated and they have displaced humans from their own bodies and turned them into hosts for interplanetary travelers.

Melanie (Ronan), with few other humans, has resisted so far but she becomes the prisoner and her body becomes a host. Despite becoming a part of the new race, she is unable to eradicate her human memories.

'The Host' is directed by Andrew Niccol of 'In Time' fame. He also also adapted the screenplay from Meyer's novel.

The film is being released in India by PVR Pictures.
