The Tamil Nadu government today informed the Madras High Court that necessary steps would be taken to provide CCTV cameras in all courts in the state.

Advocate general R.Muthukumaraswamy said the Finance department had given its approval and the proposal was under circulation.

He sought two weeks time to issue necessary government order and release of funds when a PIL came up before a division bench comprising Chief Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Justice R.Mahadevan.

The court said a comprehensive proposal from the Registrar (Administration) of the Madras high court was received on October 17 and all aspects have been clarified.

The case has been posted to December 16 for further hearing.

The PIL had sought a direction to authorities for fixing CCTV cameras in courts and outside the court complexes in Tamil Nadu.
