Universal Pictures has stepped up to produce the Danny Boyle-directed biopic on Apple co-founder Steve Jobs less than a week after Sony withdrew from the high profile project.
A studio spokesman confirmed that Universal had reached a deal for the film, written by Aaron Sorkin. The project had been shopped with a price tag of more than USD 30 million, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Michael Fassbender is attached to portray Jobs in the movie, which is being produced by Scott Rudin, Mark Gordon and Guymon Casady.
The project, which had been in development at Sony for the past two years, is based on Walter Isaacson's biography Steve Jobs, which was released in 2011.
