Women in the UK will be taught to use stiletto heels as a weapon in self-defence classes imported from the US.

Stiletto is named after a dagger and are now used as a handy weapon against sexual and other attackers.

The 'Stiletto Self Defence' classes will be launched in Britain by next year.

They are the creation of Avital Zeisler, a former ballerina who developed the technique, known as the Soteria Method, after a sexual assault, 'The Sunday Times' reported.

She teaches women how to hit an attacker with a heel in the hand or by stamping their foot.

Her method has power: the average British woman putting her full weight on a stiletto is expected to apply 200 times more pressure than a 95-kg man puts on a size 9 shoe.
