The Opposition CPI(M)-led Left Democratic Front (LDF) in Kerala today decided to intensify its agitation demanding the resignation of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy over his alleged role in the solar scam.

LDF convenor Vaikom Viswan told reporters here after the Front's state committee meeting that state leaders would lead campaign marches across the state to 'expose' the Chief Minister's role in the scam, which has been rocking the state for over three months now.

Public meetings would be held in all constituencies of the state as part of the campaign, he said.

LDF had called off its two-day long siege of the state secretariat last month after the government agreed for a judicial probe but vowed it would continue the agitation till Chandy resigned.

The scam pertains to cheating of scores of people by accused Biju Radhakrishnan and Saritha Nair, both under arrest, by offering clients solar energy solutions. They allegedly flaunted their clout with the CM's office to dupe unsuspecting clients of huge sums.

The LDF meeting also wanted the government to effectively intervene in the market to contain the soaring prices of essential commodities, Viswan said.
