Stolen 'ashtdhatu' idols recovered in UP

Two precious 'ashtdhatu' idols worth about crores of rupees were today recovered from Isanagar area in the district, police said.

The idols of Goddess Sita and Lord Hanuman were allegedly being taken to Nepal for sale when a police team arrested four persons, Superintendent of Police Arvind Sen said.

The arrested persons, namely Parasuram, Jagdamba, Ramdatt and Ramphal, during interrogation, told police that idols worth around Rs 15 crore in the international market were stolen from Bahraich, the SP said, adding that a probe was on in the matter.
