Stolen bulls seized, 5 from Haryana arrested in Nashik distt

Police today nabbed five men hailing from Haryana and seized stolen bulls and a tempo at Dahival Shivar on Malegaon-Chalisgaon road in Nashik district in the early morning.

As the accused pelted stones at the police team which was chasing them, police shot out a tyre of the tempo and arrested them.

Two policemen received injuries, while three other accused ran away under the cover of darkness, police said.

Police team headed by assistant police inspector Ashok Najan intercepted the tempo after receiving a tip-off that it was transporting stolen cattle.

The accused were identified as Umroddin Qureshi (21), Tahir Noor (23), Hussain Noor (54), Khursheed Fajjad (25), Shamin Kayyum (28).
 

A case was registered against them at Malegaon tehsil police station.

Cases of cattle theft were on the rise in the area in the last few months.
