Two persons were arrested and stolen jewellery worth Rs 10 lakh was allegedly recovered from their possession in Gautam Buddh Nagar, police said Tuesday.
Mohammad Sajid and Puneet Verma were arrested from a service road near the Tigri Gate in Greater Noida, the police said.
The accused belonged to Hapur district, a senior police official said.
"Sajid works as a carpenter. During visits to houses, he would carry out a reconnaissance of the targets and then steal jewellery. Puneet has a jewellery shop and used to buy the jewellery stolen by Sajid," Senior Superintendent of Police Ajay Pal Sharma told reporters.
"Multiple sets of jewellery, including gold bangles, gold and diamond rings, necklaces, nose rings -- all estimated to be worth Rs 10 lakh -- have been recovered from the duo," he said.
A case was registered against the accused at the Bisrakh police station and they were remanded to judicial custody, Sharma added.
