A Vadodadra Municipal Corporation (VMC) team carrying out an anti-encroachment drive had to face stone-pelting by a mob here today, officials said.

Some of the locals pelted stones at the officials when they started to demolish 350 structures from the area. One of the officials sustained injuries in the stone-pelting, Mangesh Jaiswal, in-charge of security and removal at VMC said.

"Around 2,500 residents in the area started creating hurdles in our work, but we continued with the drive," Jaiswal said, adding police personnel were present on the spot.

Not a single police personnel was injured, Inspector S K Jogal of J P Road Police Station said.
