In a stern warning, Uttar Pradesh minister Srikant Sharma today asked the errant petrol pump owners in the state to "stop looting customers" or "face punitive action".

Reacting on the strike called by petrol pump owners against the state government's crackdown on petrol outlets duping customers, he said, "Ulta chor Kotwal ko daatey (a wrongdoer has no right to protest)."

He said the state government under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was "committed to provide justice to people and put the dishonest behind the bar."

"Stop loot of customers or face punitive action," he said in a stern message to the erring petrol pump owners.

On being asked about the beheading of two Indian soldiers by Pakistani forces along LoC yesterday, the state Power Minister said the "neighbouring nation would have to pay a heavy price if it did not mend its ways."

The minister was in the city to attend the Tehsil Diwas.

Sharma said the chief minister has set a deadline of one week for the redressal of problems of people of a tehsil.

He also expressed his commitment to stop power theft in the state.
