Like curbs on smoking scenes in movies and tele-serials, the film fraternity has been asked to stop showing scenes of people riding two-wheeler without helmet.

A letter in this regard has been written by Kerala Transport and Road Safety Commissioner Rishiraj Singh to the Malayalam film organisations and the Film Certification Board.

According to sources, Singh held that showing two-wheeler riders without protective headgear, as insisted by the rules, would give a wrong signal to viewers.

Such scenes would compromise the road safety laws, Singh, an IG-rank IPS officer, said in his letter.

He also pointed out that Hollywood movies never showed two-wheeler riders without helmets.
