STPI, NILET to be opened in Haryana: Union Minister

Union Minister for Communications and Technology Ravi Shankar Prasad today announced to set up a Centre of Software Technology Park of India and Centre of National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NILET) in Haryana.

STPI will come up at Panchkula while NILET will be opened in Kurukshetra district.

Addressing gathering here at 'Ushering of Digital Haryana Programme' organized here today, Prasad also announced setting up of 10 BPO call centres in rural areas with capacity of 1000 seats in Haryana. The centre has planned to set up 48,000 seats of call centres in various parts of the country.

He further announced setting up of 1047 BTS of 2G and 3G and 238 hot spot of Wifi in next six months, strengthening of 28 telephone exchanges of BSNL and linking of remaining 230 post offices with the core banking solution by March 31.
 

He also assured that he would also positively consider the demand for the setting up of Centre of Excellence of Information Technology in the State.

Union Minister and Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today rolled out 105 e-services of 20 departments through Common Service Centres (CSCs) and dedicated 2,337 CSCs.

Out of these 50 such Centres have been made operational in Gram Sachivalyas.

He further said that he had decided to raise the strength of CSC from 1.60 lakh to 2 lakh in the country.

Apart from this, five web portals of departments --Education, Finance, Development and Panchayats, Revenue and Information Technology and CRS based Aadhar Enabled Birth Registration System and National Optical Fiber Network in district Faridabad were also launched on this occasion.

While all villages in the district have been connected with National Optical Fiber Network, two villages would have the facility of wi-fi.

With the launch of Aadhar Enabled Birth Registration System, Haryana has become the first State in the country to have this system.

While applauding Haryana Government for ushering in a revolution in the field of Information Technology (IT) in its tenure of just one-and-a-half year, the Union Minister said that the State Government has performed well in making Aadhar Cards and with the launch of Aadhar Enabled Birth Registration System, the birth registration would be linked with Aadhar Card.

He said that he would ask the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) to implement this system in the entire country adding that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has stressed that the good work done in any field be implemented in the entire country.

He said Modi has given a slogan of IT plus IT is equal to IT. While explaining it, he said one IT stands for 'Information Technology' and IT stands for 'Indian Talent' and this is equal to 'India Tomorrow'.

He said, "under the able leadership of Modi, we shall transform the country in the coming two-three years as Modi is working with the spirit of Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas."

"Initiatives like Digital India, Skill India, Make in India, Start Up India, Smart cities are revolution of change," he noted.
The Union Minister said today, there were about 100 crore

mobile users in the country.

"In the year 2004 only three to four lakh mobiles were assembled in India but at present about 10 crore mobile phones were manufactured in the country.

"Similarly, there were 40 crore Internet users in the country. We have set a target to take this figure to 50 crore by the year 2017 but it is expected that we would achieve this target by end of this year," he added.

The Minister said 2.50 lakh villages in the country were being connected to Optical Fibre and priority is being given to the rural post offices.

He said that special emphasis was being laid on e-shiksha, e-health and e-commerce. In Haryana, the e-commerce growth rate in Gurgaon has been estimated as 150 per cent.

On the functioning of postal department, the minister said that the revenue of postal department which had dipped by 2 per cent in 2013-14, registered a growth of 120 per cent in till (April 2015 till January 2016).

He further said that BSNL, which had witnessed loss of Rs 10,000 crore during 2004 till 2014, registered 4 per cent growth in revenue and also posted operating profit of Rs 672 crore for the firs time in last 5 years.

Earlier, the Union Minister went around the exhibition put up by 20 departments of the State Government highlighting various e-services being provided by them where he launched a new service.

Under this service, any mobile user who enters into the territory of Haryana would get a message from his mobile operator on his phone mentioning important contact numbers like that of the police, ambulance and women help line to deal with any untoward incident.

Earlier, speaking on this occasion, the Chief Minister described today as an important day for Haryana and said that his aim was to set up CSC in about 6500 villages of the State so as to ensure that they get the delivery of all essential services at their door step.

He said that his government was working on reducing corruption at all levels by reducing human interface and using Information Technology at large scale.

While stressing the need to have a complete database of the people of the State, he said that this would not only assist the government with complete details of beneficiaries of various government schemes but would also minimise duplicacy.

He said with the database, the people could get certificates like birth and death certificates, marriage certificate, Aadhar card automatically at their doorsteps.

He said that after linking admission to government schools with Aadhar Card, the number of school students has been reduced in the state from 27 lakh to 22 lakh as many students were found enrolled in multiple schools.
