"State government will provide free boarding and lodging facilities to stranded passengers at Jammu Bus stand," minister of state for Home Sajad Ahmad Kichloo said here.

The 300-km-long Jammu-Srinagar National Highway was closed for the second consecutive day today due to heavy snowfall on the highway.

Kichloo along with provincial president of National Conference for the Jammu region, Devendra Singh Rana went to the bus stand this morning and informed them about the improvement of the traffic movement on the highway.

They said that the National Highway has been closed temporarily to protect any loss of life and property in view of the heavy snow and rainfall, going on in various parts of the state for last two days.

The minister directed the concerned officials to take stringent action against the profiteers especially those hoteliers, who are charging exorbitant rates from the stranded passengers.
