In a bid to check the menace of milk adulteration, Punjab government would soon amend relevant sections of IPC to provide stringent punishment for adulterators.

Expressing concern over the "growing tendency" of sale of adulterated synthetic milk and its products in the state, Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today reiterated his government's commitment to check the crime by making provisions for stringent punishment for adulterators, who were playing havoc with millions of innocent lives.

Badal, who was interacting with a delegation of Halwai Association, assured them that their opinions on the issue would be given due consideration, according to an official release.

Terming adulteration as an inhuman act, the Chief Minister asked the association to help the state in checking the sale of spurious milk.

Badal hoped that making relevant amendments in the law in this regard on the directions of Apex Court would act as a deterrent to check the crime in future.
