Sugar prices spurted by up to Rs 70 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today following strong demand from stockists and bulk consumers amid thin supplies from mills.
Market players said the rise in sugar prices was mostly attributed to strong demand from stockists as well as bulk consumers such as ice-cream makers against pause in supplies from millers.
Furthermore, pick up in exports demand too supported the upside in sweetener prices, they added.
