Jammu and Kashmir unit of BJP today said the people were feeling "suffocated" under the "misrule" of the UPA government and there was a strong wave in favour of the party in the country.

People want a change of power at the Centre and were looking forward to "punish" the Congress led UPA, of which National Conference is an integral part, in the next Lok Sabha polls, BJP state chief and MLA Jugal Kishore Sharma said in a function at party headquarters here.

"A very strong pro-BJP wave is sweeping across Jammu and Kashmir, like the rest of the country, as the people are feeling suffocated under the misrule of the Congress-led UPA government," he said.

On the occasion, the state unit of Lok Janshakti Party merged with the BJP.

Jammu and Kashmir LJP chief Sanjiv Manmotra said that the 22 members of the team took the decision to merge with BJP with a motive to further strengthen the party and work for it's victory in Lok Sabha polls.
