Himachal Pradesh University today said the students, who failed to clear Rashtriya Ucchhttar Shikhsha Abhiyan (RUSA) first semester examination held in December 2015, would have to "reappear" in the exams as there was "no error" on the part of the university.
The 'High Powered Committee' has absolved the university of all allegations levelled by the students and over near 90 per cent of them did not fare well in the exams, Vice Chancellor, Himachal Pradesh University, Prof A D N Bajpai said.
The committee looked into three parameters- whether there was any discrepancy in marking; any fault in the software used for uploading the results from colleges and if proper entry of marks was made, he said.
The university had changed the examination criteria from 2015 and against 50 marks for internal assessment and 50 for external examination, it was reduced to 30 marks for the former while the marks for the later was raised to 70. The minimum pass percentage was also increased to 45 per cent from 35 per cent.
The students had alleged that they were not informed about the new criteria set by the university.
They also demanded revaluation of their answer sheets without any further fee.
Meanwhile, the blame for poor results has now shifted to college teachers.
Shortage of about 1500 teachers in colleges was also believed as one of the reason for poor results.
