A Delhi University (DU) student has accused a non-teaching staff of varsity's Atma Ram Sanatan Dharm College (ARSD) of sending derogatory messages, following which he was suspended today.

The students closed the college gates and demonstrated against the administration alleging the principal was trying to shield the accused.

"The girl had complaint to the principal that she was repetitively receiving derogatory messages from this attendant. She had reported the matter to the principal, but he tried to shield the accused," a protesting student said on the condition of anonymity.

The principal, however, denied that the matter was reported to him earlier.

"No complaint was reported to me earlier. I was approached by the girl today and she complained of eve teasing by the attendant but not of receiving any derogatory messages," college principal Gyanatosh Jha told PTI.

"Following her complaint, the said non teaching staff was suspended from the college pending an enquiry and the complaint was forwarded to the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC), which will further probe the issue," he added.
