The incident took place at Gharonda area on Thursday when the teacher beat Shubahm Dhiman (15) with a cane after he failed to give reply to a question, they said.
The boy's parents rushed him to a hospital as he was severely injured due to the thrashing, police said.
They also lodged a police against the teacher, who is yet to be arrested.
The boy's parents claimed he has several injury marks of cane thrashing on his buttocks and other body parts, police said.
