Student beaten up by teacher for refusing to work in fields

A Class XI student of a government higher secondary school Dhargaloon in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district was allegedly beaten by up a teacher for refusing to work in his agricultural fields.

Israr Tanveer suffered injuries and was admitted to sub-district hospital Mendhar after he was beaten up by his physical education teacher Nazir Ahmed in the school yesterday, officials said today.

The teacher had instructed Tanveer to work in his fields in Mendhar area, but the student refused to follow Ahmed's order, they said.

The parents alleged that Tanveer was thrashed by Ahmed in the presence another teacher Mohammad Yousuf teacher during the morning assembly in the institute.
 

Parents along with residents of the area assembled at Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Mendhar and demanded action against the teacher.

On the directions of the SDM, education department asked deputy chief education officer to probe the matter and submit report at the earliest, officials said.
