A 10-year-old student of a madrassa was allegedly chained by a teacher in Nalgonda district of Telangana, police said today.

The student was spotted by locals with his leg chained at some distance outside the school yesterday, Vemulapally police station sub-inspector Satish told PTI over the phone.

"The student used to run away from the madrassa and as a punishment the teacher had chained him. He and two other students had escaped from the madrassa last night. The three boys were rescued today," the officer said.

The boy told that media that a teacher at the madrassa allegedly used to beat him with stick and that's why he had tried to flee along with the other boys.

A case has been registered in this regard under relevant IPC sections. No one has been arrested so far and investigations are on, the SI said.
