Student death; court grants four day custody of accused

A local court today granted police four day custody of Arumugham, the trainer who allgedly pushed 19-year old girl to death during a disaster training course recently at a city college.

Arumugham was arrested on July 13 on charges pushing down the student, Logeswari from the second floor of a private college, as part of the disaster drill, when she was reluctant to jump and died after her head hit the sunshade on the first floor.

Police had filed a petition before the judicial magistrate court, seeking custody of Arumugam for seven days for questioning

The 5th Judicial Magistrate (in-charge) K R Kannan, before whom the case came up ,allowed police four day custody and directed them to produce the accused in court by Saturday.
