Amidst the mid-day meal tragedy that rocked Bihar, a student died after the boundary wall of his school in Rohtas district collapsed on him when he sat down for the meal on its premises today, a senior official said.
Two other students of Rungta Middle School, where the incident took place, were injured and were rushed to the sadar hospital here, Sasaram sub-divisional officer Nalin Kumar said.
The deceased has been identified as 13-year-old Jitendra Kumar, a student of class VIII, the SDO said, adding his family was given a compensation of Rs two lakh.
The school has been closed till further orders and a report has been sought on the state of the dilapidated school building, he added.
