Student dies after hit by MLA's car

An eight-year-old girl died and five students injued when they were hit by the car of K P P Bhaskar, MLA representing Namakkal in the Tamil Nadu assembly, police said today.

The car driver Muthuswamy was arrested, police said.

The deceased was identified as Sivaranjini, a class three student.

The MLA was on an election campaign for Sundaram, AIADMK candidate for the Lok Sabha election when his car hit the children, who were returning to their houses after school hours last evening, police said.
