Student dies after reportedly consuming albendazole, 3 ill

The students were reportedly given overdose of albendazole drug in empty stomach at their school and fell ill, Mushari police station's Station House Officer (SHO) said quoting the villagers.

They were taken to a primary health centre where Sanoj Kumar (11), a class VI student, died during treatment, he said adding that the three sick students were undergoing treatment.

The SHO said that the school principal has been questioned in this regard, but an FIR was yet to registered.

The state government had launched a deworming campaign among the school students last year and supplied albendazole tablets for consumption of the students.
