A 20-year-old student of the University of Hyderabad (UoH) sustained injuries when he "accidentally" fell from the terrace of a hostel building on the campus in the early hours today, a University official said.

Birbal K Debbarma, a third semester student of Integrated MA in Language Science course, who hails from Agartala in Tripura, fell from the hostel building's third floor on the cycle stand on the ground at around 1.30 am, the official said.

"On hearing the sound, some hostel mates spotted him on the cycle stand and took him to the medical room in the university. He was later shifted to a private hospital in Gachibowli area," the official said.

"He suffered head injury and fractures in his legs. The medical investigations are going on," he said.

"Right now we are treating it as an accidental fall, but how he fell is not yet known," the official added.
