A 21-year-old student was arrested for allegedly demanding money from a girl student for deleting her morphed obscene photos from a fake account on a social networking site, Cyberabad Police said today.

Cyber Crime sleuths arrested Mekala Yeshwanth Reddy, a resident of Hayathnagar here, for demanding money from the junior girl student of a private engineering college to delete obscene morphed pictures of her from a fake Facebook profile created by him, they said.

Based on the complaint of the victim, a case was registered under relevant provisions of Information Technology Act, and investigation revealed that the culprit along with his friend planned to earn easy money by posting morphed obscene pictures of their junior, Assistant Commissioner of Police M Snehita said.

"Accordingly, the duo demanded money from her to refrain from posting such photos further in public pages of their college on social networking sites," the ACP said.

Yeshwanth was arrested on December 20 and his personal computer from which he uploaded the pictures was seized from his residence, he said.

Further probe is on with regard to his friend's role, police added.
