The ninth class student had told his friends that the exams would not be held as scheduled and had been postponed to next week.
Later, an enquiry revealed that he had spread the 'news', following which his class teacher and the headmaster beat him up yesterday, they said.
The boy later informed his parents and also complained of chest pain, following which he was admitted to the government hospital here, where his condition was stated to be stable, police added.
