A student lost a part of his earlobe while two others received minor injuries in a stampede outside the office of Pharmacy Council in suburban Mulund this morning, police said.

Aditya Shingane (20) lost a part of his earlobe in the melee, said a police officer.

He is being treated at a private hospital.

Senior police inspector Shripad Kale said the incident took place around 11.40 AM.

Over 700 pharmacy students had queued up outside the council office to register themselves, and some policemen had also been deployed to keep order, he said.

There was a stampede when the students broke the queue to seek shelter from rain, Kale said.
