A lab explosion in China's Tsinghua University which killed one postdoctoral researcher was believed to have occurred during a hydrogen experiment, according to authorities.
An initial investigation showed that the Friday blast took place during Meng Xiangjian's experiment, state-run Xinhua news agency reported today, citing the Beijing work safety authority.
The blast occurred on the second floor of the chemistry lab building in the university when Meng was conducting a hydrogen chemical test alone, it said.
The student was found dead at the scene by rescuers.
