A student was killed today in a clash between rival groups at the railway junction in Bihar's Samastipur district, a police officer said.

A petty argument among some students of a private coaching institute yesterday took a violent turn as dozens of them belonging to rival groups attacked each other resulting in the death of one Vishal Kumar (20) on the spot, the Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Amir Javed said.

The body has been sent for post-mortem, he said, adding the victim was an intermediate (arts) student of a government college at Dalsinghsarai.

An FIR has been lodged against about 15 unidentified students and raids were being carried out to nab them, the ASP said.

Meanwhile, the coaching institute Director Saurabh Kumar refused to take responsibility for the violent clash among rival groups of students saying no unfortunate incident had taken place inside the campus.
