A student union leader has been arrested for allegedly threatening a senior doctor here over cutting down the medical bill of one of his patients, police said today.

Pankaj Pradhan, former General Secretary of Chaudhary Charan Singh University Students' Union was arrested yesterday from Shastri Nagar for giving threats to Dr Vishwajeet Bainbee working at a nursing home here, Medical station in-charge Vinod Kumar Singh said.

A complaint was filed against the accused by Vijay Kumar, manager of Bhagyashree Nursing Home on Friday alleging that Pradhan had threatened the doctor over reducing the medical bill of one of the patients at the clinic, he said.

Kumar complained that Pradhan also forcefully took the patient away and warned of creating ruckus at the nursing home if his demands were not met, police said.

The Meerut branch of Indian Medical Association had called for protests from tomorrow if the union leader was not arrested.
