The Bombay High Court today asked the Mumbai University (MU) to respond to a petition filed by a student who was refused migration certificate for pursuing higher studies here.
Justices S C Dharmadhikari and R Y Ganoo, while keeping the petition for hearing after a week, asked the MU to keep the student's future in mind while taking a final decision.
The court was hearing a petition filed by Faisal Zakaria, 23, praying that the MU should be directed to grant him the migration certificate for securing admission at a college in Bhiwandi to pursue Master in Management Service (MMS).

He had acquired degree of Bachelor of Arts with honours in Culinary Arts on July 14, 2011, his advocate Girish Kulkarni submitted.
Zakaria then migrated to Mumbai and sought admission in Swayam Siddhi College of Management in Bhiwandi for academic year 2012-13.
He was informed by the college to procure a migration certificate from the MU as he has a degree from Aurangabad.
In June this year, the MU refused to grant him the migration certificate saying that he has not acquired 'No Objection Certificate' (NOC) from the state government.
Kulkarni argued that the college was affiliated to the AICTE and hence he should be granted migration certificate.
Rui Rodrigues, counsel for the MU, said that the Human Resources Development Ministry had issued a clarification recently saying that an NOC for government is required for courses cleared post 2008. "In this case, since he has acquired degree in 2006-07, there is hope of him getting a provisional eligibility certificate," Rodrigues said.
Asking the University to file its reply, the court kept the petition for hearing on November 28.
