Student shot at by junior in Mathura college

A polytechnic student was allegedly shot at by a junior who claimed that he was ragged and beaten by a group of seniors here, police said.

The incident happened yesterday when two senior students- Rajendra and Raj Kumar had allegedly beaten up their juniors during ragging, said Harish Vardhan Singh, SHO, Govind Nagar.

Angered over the incident, four junior students - Ved Prakash, Yashpal, Amit, and one unidentified - went to the seniors' room at Jaysinghpura in the evening, the SHO said.

Scuffle ensued and Ved Prakash fired at Rajendar with a country-made pistol injuring him in his thigh, he added.
 

Rajender was later discharged from hospital and his condition was stated to be out of danger, police said.

Ved Prakash, Yashpal and Amit were arrested in this connection and efforts are on to nab the unidentified accused, they said.
