West Bengal Education Minister Partha Chatterjee today said the college authorities should take stern action against the senior students who had allegedly stripped a first year student and filmed him naked inside a room in the college.

If the St Paul's Cathedral College authorities failed to take action against the three accused students as per law, "We will take action against the college authorities," Chatterjee told reporters here.

The video clip of the May 17 incident, which went viral on social media, showed the student pleading for mercy at St Paul's Cathedral College even as he was forced to remove his clothes in front of a group of people.

A college spokesman said, a seven-member committee consisting of faculty members and non-teaching staff has been formed to probe the allegations of the first year student.

The panel was asked to submit its report in a week.

The student told reporters at the college campus today that he has lodged an FIR against four persons - including three Trinamool Congress Chhatra Parishad activists - and a former college student who frequently visits the college.

The college spokesman confirmed that a police team visited the north Kolkata institution in the afternoon and talked to the complainant and the authorities.

The education minister yesterday confirmed having received a written complaint from the student on the matter.

The first-year student who also claimed to be a member of the Trinamool Congress Chhatra Parishad yesterday said he was tortured by the accused when he inquired about the expenses incurred for arranging an upcoming fest in the college.

TMCP state president Jaya Dutta said the union will take strict action against those named in the complaint, if they were found guilty.
