Some students from Panchayat High School at Krandibali in Odisha's Kandhamal district have sought intervention of the administration, alleging that they have not got their stipend money under the government's welfare schemes.

The students of the school, located in Phiringia block and run by ST and SC development department, alleged that they were deprived of the monetary benefits in a fraudulent manner. A group of students called on ADM Ashok Kumar Bhuyan yesterday and aired their grievances.

"The students met me and alleged that the headmaster and clerk have failed to disburse the full sums which they should have got under the welfare schemes. They lamented to have been deprived of the benefits for a long time. I have asked the district welfare officer (DWO) Paramananda Prustry to inquire into the matter and submit a report forthwith. Anyone found guilty would be punished," the ADM said.

While the boarders of the hostels are to get Rs 5,450 and RS 4,500 in cases of girls and boys respectively, the stipend sums for day-scholars are Rs 3,200 and Rs 2,250 respectively.
