A group of students, who were protesting against the Kamduni gangrape-murder, were arrested today for holding a rally in a prohibited zone and allegedly smearing police officials with colours.
The students were later released.
Twelve students, including two girls, were arrested when they were protesting against the Kamduni gangrape and murder in the Metro Channel area.

The administration recently banned rallies and demonstrations in the area.
According to senior police officials, when the students were asked to leave the area, they smeared police officials with colours.
"Twelve students were arrested for staging the rally in a prohibited zone and smearing police officials with colours. All of them were released on bail," Joint CP(headquaters) Jawed Shamim told PTI.
However, the students, who were staging the protest claimed that they were holding the rally peacefully and the police came and started shoving them.
