Students called for talks to Chennai

The representative of Students of Forest College and Research Institute in Mettupalayam, who are on indefinite fast for the last three days, have been asked to come to Chennai to hold a ministrial level discussion on the issue, tomorrow.

Accordingly, a few students will go to Chennai to attend the meeting, fixed in the afternoon tomorrow at the secretariate, the Institute sources said.

Chief Minister O Paneerselvam, Forest Minister, M S M Anandan and Agriculture minister, Agri S S Krishnamoorthy will hold talks with the students on the issue of 100 per cent reservation for the post of rangers and quota for the appointment of foresters for the forestry graduates.
 

The students were on sit-in dharna in the college from January 27, on which the FCRI was closed indefinitely and were on various types of agitation.

As there was no no response from the Government, they resorted to indefinite fast three days ago and 22 students were taken ill and hospitalised, till now.
