Students campaign against drugs, ragging

A large number of students of Delhi University have taken pledge against the menace of ragging and substance abuse in college campuses as part of an Anti-Drugs Anti-Ragging (ADAR) campaign organised by the youth leadership organisation, Leaders For Tomorrow, with the support of Delhi Police.

The campaign that started on August 3 in over 50 colleges of Delhi University concluded its first phase on Wednesday and is all set for its second phase, starting on Monday in the colleges of Indraprastha University, along with several private institutions, a release said today.

This initiative is aimed at inspiring the youth to take a conscious decision to step away from ragging and substance abuse by informing them about short term and long term harmful effects of these practices.
 

It also lets the youth know that much change is possible in the society around them, if they unite under a pledge to make a difference with a commitment to lead change.

The campaign being organised for the sixth year, encourages the youth to discuss the menaces of ragging and substance abuse.

Through help desks, distribution of pamphlets with important information and an active signature campaign across colleges, the campaign has already involved over two lakh youth across Delhi, the release claimed.

Prince Khandelwal, a student of PGDAV college and ADAR Campaign manager, says "It is a great feeling to be able to talk to youth about these pressing issues and convey to them the importance of staying away from these menaces.
